NUC accredits postgraduate programs at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE).
The National Universities Commission has reportedly accredited postgraduate courses at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State.
Pro-chancellor of the university and chairman of the governing council, Prof Shehu Abdullahi Zuru announced the development on Tuesday, October 9, 2018.
Zuru said the NUC accreditation came after efforts by the council and university management to provide requisite academic, administrative and infrastructure obligations necessary for the approval.
“In keeping with the long-standing tradition of this council, we have just had deliberations on serious issues that affect the university. We just concluded our third council of the year and we deliberated on very serious issues.
“At the core of the mandate of the university and particularly of interest was the approval of the PG programmes by the council of the university and the NUC accreditation has been obtained.
“The programmes are science-based courses, namely; Chemistry, Physics, technology and other aspects of natural sciences. The council dwelt extensively on the viability of those programmes and how the university intends to make a success story around the approved postgraduate programmes.
“The only area that we are having some issues with the NUC regarding resource verification and approval of the programme, is in the area of information technology.
“The council has already taken immediate measure to put the required resources in place and we shall very soon invite the NUC for resource verification so that we could possibly have the programme approved for the university”, the council chairman said.
Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State was established in March 2007.
